Shrimp Boudin, Andouille, Tex-Mati, Worchestershire Meuniere
B and I have been waiting patiently to try out the food at Haven. Hidden away from the bustling traffic of a major freeway, one blink and you'll miss the signage pointing you towards the restaurant. The chef is known for his use of fresh, locally grown ingredients that reflect the flavors of Texas outside of BBQ. The modern yet homey decor was also a perfect backdrop for a romantic night out.
We skipped the signature shrimp corn dogs appetizer, which I still kick myself for not ordering. I never met a corn dog I didn't like. Our boudin starter was overly salted, but I did enjoy my delightful (and peculiarly placed) quail entree with a side of cheese grits. The food had a southern influence with a gourmet twist on several classic dishes. Not sure if I'll be returning, unless I develop a strong hankering for some corn dogs from the sea.
Oh my god this looks SO YUMMYYY!!!!!

ReplyDeleteLucky lady, Haven and back - literally! I was actually brought out for dinner earlier and saw something similar to the Quail dish featured in your post, but I played it safe and ordered something else because I've never tried it before. You seemed to enjoy it, so it's a must try for next time!
