Retropolis- My Favorite Vintage Hideaway

You can literally bury yourself in the depths of vintage goodness here. I try not to go too often because it can strangely suck up hours of your time (and money) as if you were lost in a wormhole. Retropolis is a 2-story haven full of old random housewares, lots and lots of vintage clothing, and accessories galore. Upon first glance, it looks like a really big vintage store, but it actually houses different vendors. One downside is that if you happen to stumble upon the most amazing rain boot, good luck in finding the other half of the pair. Shucks. On the upside, if you have the time and proper digging skills, you will find that other boot plus other treasures that have been overlooked.

Here are a couple of my purchases. I gave into the rug trend and can't wait to wear this offbeat coat in the winter. Can you guess what I'll be doing with the purse?

This is one of my fave cafes in the area. Yes, it's in a shopping center but don't let that deter or deceive you. This is a Houston-owned restaurant brought to you by the same people who own Pink's Pizza (some of the best pizza in town) and Lola's (have not tried). Plus, the staff is super friendly. Normally, I like sitting at the counter to watch my food being cooked and talk to the chefs, but I was feeling a little loner-ish today. That's what too much vintage shopping can do to you.

My dinner. Bul Gogi (Korean style BBQ). They even included some sambal chili sauce on the side to give that extra spicy kick.
