Besides eating, traveling ranks pretty high up there in my favorites. Luckily, our friend is getting married in Taipei in two weeks, so we have scheduled our big yearly trip around the celebration. Our current itinerary goes something like this:
The Maui portion will be my "fun in the sun" leg. I have never been to Hawaii, so I'm really looking forward to enjoying the tropical breeze and laying out on the beautiful sandy beaches in a place where the word, "aloha," is commonplace. Plus, I could really use a little R&R and a tan. I believe Bryan has some adventures up his sleeve, but I'll leave that as a surprise.
Our
last trip to Taiwan turned out to be a great cultural experience back to my roots. Highlights included the night markets, a
toilet restaurant, and
Jiu Fen, a charming old mining village on top of a hill. For me, traveling and food go hand in hand, so I decided to whet my appetite by watching the documentary,
The Raw and the Cooked, "a culinary journey through Taiwan." All I can say is, I'M READY! No seriously, I'm super excited to watch another one of our friends begin married life, which I have to say is awesome if anyone is hesitating.
Before coming home, we will be making a pit stop in Tokyo. A special museum visit awaits and hopefully, lots of sushi too. I'd really like to go
here, but at $300 a head, I think I'll just add it to my bucket list.
P.S.- Sorry for the lack of posts and such, but there always seems to be too many things to do and too little time. Hopefully, with the upcoming trip, I'll have a bevy of photographic memories to share with you. If you'd like to catch up beforehand, there's always
Instagram. I should probably warn you though. I like cats, and I like food.
